No, it does not necessarily mean that your child has a medical need. It could just be that your child is a late developer and will eventually reach developmental milestones.
There are many reasons which may contribute to a speech and language delay, such as hearing loss, underlying development concerns, underlying neurological disorders, premature birth.
It is important to know that E-STIP is not a medical, behavioural or diagnostic service. Speech delay can be affected by many influencers, including medical, environmental, and other contributors. However, E-STIP will always be honest and transparent and will let you know the likelihood of progression. Your child will be reviewed at regular intervals.
E-STIP can still provide a service whilst you are waiting.
It is difficult to say how many sessions a child may need as every child is individual and makes progress at different rates. Regular assessments will ensure the correct amount of sessions.
Sessions are required to be cancelled via Email 48 hours before. If cancelled 48 hours before, the session can be re-arranged. Refunds are not available for cancelled sessions, and any session cancelled without 48 hours notice will be lost. Please remember – to make progress, sessions must be consistent.
The session will be held in your home environment, allowing your child to feel more comfortable and familiar with their surroundings.
Read to your child daily and engage in regular conversations. Ensure the homework set by E-STIP is carried out daily with the use of E-STIP’s flashcards. Always reply to your child’s conversation and speak out any objects they are pointing to.
